JRECK Subs
An institution of submarine sandwiches, JRECK was founded in 1967 by five teachers from Watertown who began selling sandwiches out of a school bus to supplement their income. Their names were Jerry Haley, Robert Martin, Ellis Martin, Charles Lehman, and Keith Waltz. And if you take the first letter of each of their names, you get "JRECK". For more than 50 years, that incredible origin story remained untold from a brand perspective. So, we started with the logo by replacing a tired submarine admiral mascot with a meaningful icon—half sub, half bus. Finally, a tagline to help make sense of a word that didn’t spell anything—but would serve as a delicious conversation starter.
